On this episode of The Hollywood Outsider podcast, with Thor: Love and Thunder blowing up theaters, we decided to take a look at movies or TV that changed their tone. For example, a show like The X-Files regularly altered its tone from comedy to sci-fi to horror with relative ease, while movies rebooted into completely new genres with films like 21 Jump Street and Baywatch. Changing the tone of a property is nothing new, but it does beg the question: is it worth the risk?

Also on this episode, our spoiler-free review of Thor: Love and Thunder, discuss the recent #GentleMinions experience, reflect on Summer Box Office, and much more.

Hopper and Joyce are reunited, but what is the deal with this Russia storyline? Did Eddie buy them enough time? All of this and more as we dive into our favorite aspects of both volumes of Season 4 of Stranger Things.

On this episode of The Hollywood Outsider podcast, we debate timeless movies, iconic TV episodes, and debate villain team-ups in a Battle Royale!

Our Movie Battle Royale takes on a new form as each host forms a Suicide Squad of their own, 4 villains teaming up to defeat Thanos. Which combination wins the battle?

Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park. These are some of the first films you think of when you debate movies that have stood up to the trials of time. On this segment, we are discussing timeless movies. Those films that still hold up decades later, against modern effects and scrutiny. These aren’t based on greatness or classic status, these are decided on by their ability to almost look and feel the same to you now as they did when you first saw them.

Iconic is typically defined as widely recognized and well-established. Iconic episodes of television though are far and few between, because typically a series can only have one that would be called iconic, and how few episodes of any TV show are actually iconic? On this segment we discuss the very nature of reaching iconic status, as well as what we would define as iconic television episodes. Sure, the usual suspects arrive in the form of Lost or Game of Thrones, but a few surprises await as well during an engaging discussion on a topic most of us know far more about than we realize.

On this episode of The Hollywood Outsider podcast, with the recent cancellation of over 40 shows, we are discussing the emotional impact of a series not given a proper ending.
